Tomato chutney தக்காளி சட்னி

Preparation time: 5 mins
Cooking time: 5 mins

Ingredients:
Onions (big)-2 nos (if using small onions - 15 nos)
Tomato - 2 nos
Red chillies - 4 nos
Bengal gram -1 tbsp
Urad dhal - 1 tsp
Mustard- 1 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 twig
Oil- for tempering and frying the ingredients

Method:
1. Cut onion into big pieces and tomatoes into two halves. If we chop tomatoes finely it will lose its juices in the frying pan itself.
2. Heat a kadai or frying pan and pour 2 tsp of oil.
3. Put dried red chillies and fry till you get the aroma and keep aside.
4. Now in the same pan add bengal gram and fry it until it becomes crisp and keep aside.
5. Add onions and saute till it becomes translucent and leaves the green smell and keep aside.
6. Now put in the tomatoes by keeping the skin side touching the pan. And cook till the tomatoes start to leave its juices.
7. Once all the ingredients are cooled put them all in a blender and make the chutney.
8. Add salt as per your liking and temper it with mustard, urad dhal and curry leaves.
